Dandelion painting

Hi all, it’s Friday! I do love that Friday feeling 😃 Hope you’ve all had a good week and are ready for a fabulous weekend!

I had a visit from a friend of mine this week, her name is sarah and she is an artist. She had never been to my house before and was very complimentary about it. When she looked at our bedroom, she noticed the dandelions that I had painted on the wall about 4yrs ago. To start with she thought they were either stencilled or a wall sticker, similar to the one we have in the kitchen. When I told her that I had painted them she was so enthusiastic. I have never liked the painting, it never looked how I imagined it should and have always felt a little embaressed by it. I wanted to cover it up as soon as it was finished. My son, who was 10 at the time said I was not allowed to paint over it because it was too good, bless his heart, so, it stayed.

One of the most beautiful things about Sarah is that not only is she very talented as a painter, she also has a gift of encouraging others to step out of their comfort zone and give art a go. After she was so complimentary about my bit of artwork it made me think that maybe it wasn’t that bad and that I would try some other painting.

The point of this post is not to gloat about how wonderful sarah thought my painting was, but rather to use this story to encourage all of you! We are all creative one way or another. So many people have told me that they don’t have a creative bone in their body. I truly don’t believe that. There are so many different forms of creativity and it’s about giving yourself the time and the permission to give it a go. I think that many of you would be surprised.

Come on, give creativity a go! Would love to hear about some of your projects. Have an amazing weekend ❤️

It’s only by stepping out and trying things and being encouraged along the way, that I have done any of this really. Thank you for being so complimentary. I hope I have encouraged you to step out of your comfort zone and give something new a try
