The weekend and beyond

Hey there wonderful people. How was everyone’s weekend? What did you all get up to? My weekend started superbly by going to a McMillan coffee morning with Steph from The Vintage Dove, at Britts from She Who Bakes. We met some really lovely people, it was great fun and all for charity – can’t do better than that right? As a result of the coffee morning, I have been given an interesting opportunity to make dog treats for some sweet wee doggies who are allergic to just about everything on the market. I’m looking forward to seeing how those turn out.

Mr H had to fly to California on Saturday morning (as he very often does). My daughter had been asking to go to Thorpe Park for ages so that’s what we did, left at 7.45am eughhh, but at least the sun was shining! I Reached a new level of achievement when my daughter said ‘mum you are well good at rides’!  Nb for those of you who know the rides at Thorpe Park I went on colossus and nemesis 3 times! Just saying 😉 My son was playing football and looking after Saffie dog bless him and he even managed to do a few chores that I hadn’t even asked him to do!!! Which is strange as sometimes I can’t get him to do the jobs I do ask him to do – but hey I am NOT complaining.

Sunday was also busy. Walking Saffie, watching my son play a very exciting, nerve wrecking game of football, which they won 3-2 ⚽️ woohoo, then to the shops to buy the kids winter coats. And it just keeps on going this week. We are looking after my friends lovely little dog Archie (in the picture with Saffie) He’s a real sweetie and he and Saffie get on really well so all good, apart from the fact that they both follow me everywhere and are constantly battling for my attention. I took them both on a power walk this morning to try and wear them out which worked to a point. Then it was the endless list of appointment making for the kids and myself, you know how the list is never ending? Don’t forget the orthodontist or the opticians and then popping down the school to drop in the form that they forgot this morning etc – the life of a mum.

My mind is also buzzing with different ideas for Christmas i.e presents, crafts, things to sell. Which reminds me, I did make a start on Christmas ‘stuff’ last week by making my usual chutneys. When I say usual, I have actually only been making them for the last 3yrs. It was something I always wanted to try but kept putting off, thinking it would be too complicated. I want to encourage you if you haven’t tried it and would like to, it really is very simple, it can be quite time consuming with all the peeling and chopping, but still simple. I think it’s a lovely, inexpensive and thoughtful gift to give all sorts of people from family and friends to teachers as gifts. It’s all in the presentation, the way you label the jars and use ribbons and string.

Well that’s it from me today. Looking forward to hearing what the rest of you have been up to and any ideas you have for Christmas gifts! 😀

Life after the magazine

Last Thursday was really exciting with the release of the magazine and lots of talk about the article in Homestyle. Thank you to everyone who has been so interested and complimentary. I was really pleased with the way the article read and looked. I have had a lot of people asking if I can help them with ideas for their home which I’m really encouraged by. It’s also been a really busy time socially which has been lovely. Mr H and I went to see Matilda at the theatre on Friday with some lovely friends (partly a work thing for Mr H) but we had such a good time with wonderful people. Then on Saturday night we both went to see Ed Sheeran!  I am a huge fan of him and his music. How one guy with a guitar and a loop peddle manages to keep a crowd of around 80,000 completely enthralled for 2 hours is just incredible. We had the privilege of meeting him a couple of years ago (again to do with Mr H’s work) after a gig in Brighton. What a lovely human being 😀

It sounds like I get to swan around going to gigs all the time which is not the case at all, but there are times when we are blessed to go places. One of those times being this week. We are flying to montreux tomorrow for the Jazz festival. Mr H has to go every year (I know, poor soul, how he copes is beyond me!) 😉 I have been before but this is the first time in 3 years and I cannot wait. We are probably not getting a summer holiday this year so I am treating this as my mini holiday. We will be looking after his clients but it is such a beautiful place and an amazing atmosphere with the festival being on that I think we will manage.

When we return on Friday there is only half the week before the school holidays start. I don’t know about you guys but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the kids being home! I’m trying to get things sorted for when they are of as we have both my children’s birthdays in August 💝🎁🎂 very busy but very exciting time of the year.

Anyway I have to get packed and clean the house as we like to do before we go away – anyone relate to that by any chance? I shall be posting some pictures on Facebook and Instagram while we are away.

Really would love to hear from some of you about what your doing in the holidays and if your going away.

Tech challenges…arghhhhhh!!😜

When I said this was going to be a journey for me, oh my goodness did I get that right!! One of the things I really struggle with is technology! Funny I know as I’m writing a blog 😊  I didn’t realise quite how much of a challenge it could be, but with a lot of help (and oodles patience) from Mr H and some wonderful friends, here I am again.  Still lots to learn but hey, that’s all part of the journey and the challenge! It’s funny because when I first mentioned to my 13yr old son that I was going to start a blog, he had trouble stifling a smirk. When I asked him why he thought it was amusing and was it because I can barely use my iPhone properly, he responded with ‘well you said it’!  It’s good to have challenges in life right?! 😉 Anyway I have lots of catching up to do and will be doing that today. Look out for following posts and I am looking forward to hearing back from you guys. Enjoy the beautiful sunshine 🌞
